By "painting what I see" or "painting the way I see", I endeavor to address two important issues at the same time.

One is the technical aspect of following the footsteps of the19th Century masters, mainly naturalists, realists, and tonalists who perfected the impressionistic vision by close association with impressionists.

The other is not as easy to define but in essence has to do with "seeing beyond the surface". To understand the soul and history of the subjects and to put them on a canvas the way I see them.
