In this gallery is my newest works in Pulp Paintings. I am very drawn to abstraction of life and images at the moment. I love the textures that I can create with my pulp painting style. Pulp paintings are created by pouring pigmented pulps onto screen in many layers, adding texture and markings as I desire as it dries. Pieces are mounted onto deep galerie style canvas' and then varnished for protection. Shayli Vere is a Canadian paper artisan, photographer and digital multimedia artist. A recipient of 12 art, photography, film, and paper grants, she explores creativity on many levels. Vere is recognized as a senior level photographic and media artist. I love to create. I love textures, light and color. I feel it is what I am here to do on the earth, to share what I see and feel in a visual expression. I started my creative career as a photographer, focusing on figure works. I soon wanted to control the whole process and was obsessed with old techniques. I started making my own paper and sensitizing them myself. It became my signature work. My love of paper grew when I discovered an ancient paper technique called pulp paintings. I hand dye and pour my painting onto a screen.
