These images started as photographs either captured digitally or some older ones were digitized using a scanner from the original 35mm transparencies. They were then painted at high resolution with a digital paint synthesizer. Usually 5 or more layers are combined to create the final image. The brush strokes are so small they form a kind of digital grain.
