The "Vari Colori" series consists of paintings of "various colors" applied to clear acrylic panels, canvas panels or gesso board. "Vari Colori" is Italian for "Varied Colors". The “Vari Colori Diversi” series (other) explores different processes and materials, including a white, as well as other more opaque backgrounds. Color, light and luminosity are the main themes of most of my current work and series. Working primarily with acrylic paints and mediums, colors and metallic powders are used in a variety of innovative techniques, many of which have been developed over years, allowing various pigments and metal particles to separate, flow and combine. Depth is created by adding as many as ten or more translucent layers after each previous layer was allowed to dry. Metallic paint and metal leaf accents are also used where light and luminosity play with transparency, depth and reflection. The Original Paintings consist of Fluid, Iridescent and Interference Acrylic Paint, Metallic Pigments, Powders and Leaf painted on Gesso Board or Canvas Panels.
